March 2015

To keep you in touch with Stag Design we would like to show you some examples of bigger projects we have completed in early 2015.

Our whisky wood cufflinks, which we normally engrave with initials have proved to be very popular with The Macallan. We engrave a picture of the ‘ancestral home’, Easter Elchies House in Speyside on their cufflinks. Not only are they stocked at the distillery shop but we have also made several hundred pairs which have been sent to China and the USA. It is very rewarding to see the transformation of old barrels into delicately engraved pieces. The wood may have held whisky for up to 60 years. It started off as oak trees in north west Spain before becoming sherry barrels in Andalucia until they were transported to Scotland for their ultimate purpose!

Another whisky related project for Stag D was to make several thousand wooden labels to be hung around bottles with twine. These give a hand-crafted look but the engraving ensures that the information on the label is crisp.

We have also been making bespoke clipboards for restaurants and hotels in different sizes. It is amazing how versatile they are - sharp graphics to intricate designs and detailed drawings.

Our champagne memory frames have been going down a storm and now we are making extra-large too. The regular size holds about 25 champagne corks (although they can obviously store wine corks too). The big brother of a frame can hold up to about 100 corks and makes a spectacular feature on any wall. Also a new addition (literally) to the range, is the baby frame, a sweet present for new parents and christenings. We are very much enjoying engraving the personalised messages, keep thinking creatively!

The wedding season is beginning, please look at our collection, new products are being added all the time. We include ideas for the wedding itself as well as gifts. Below are some ideas for designs for wedding guest books and the popular personalised engraved hangers for the wedding outfits.

Finally, the move into our new studio has been both successful and improved efficiency. We hope, as spring arrives, we may be able to throw open the doors and enjoy the views as we work.
